South Africa is a safe destination to visit but it is always advisable to be vigilant when travelling abroad . At Taxi Hire we are always concerned about the safety of our clients, so when using an airport shuttle service, just keep these handy tips in mind.

Always make sure that you use a reputable company.

Don’t go getting into the first car you see waiting outside the airport. Airport shuttles are usually clearly marked with a company branding. Some executive shuttle services may be unbranded so be sure to ask for identification before entering the airport shuttle.  If you are not sure about a company then ask for help at the information desk at the airport. If you have booked ahead then you may want to ask if the airport taxi service uses printed name boards? Do the staff wear uniforms? How long has the airport shuttle company been in business?

Do not leave your belongings unattended

Once you exit into the main terminal its always advisable to keep an eye on your belongings. Flashing a wallet full of money, with a flashy camera over your shoulder is a good way to advertise to criminals. Use common sense is the general rule.

Ask for an insurance certificate of passenger liability

When booking a local airport link service, always ask in advance for the companies insurance certificate of passenger liability. Transportation companies are required to provide you with such certificates to ensure your safety during airport transfers.

Book your airport shuttle or transfer ahead of time

We advise to pre-book airport transfers in advance, so that before you even leave for your destination, you have the chauffeurs details, as well as a confirmation of the booking. Booking ahead will also eliminate any delays and will help you to get to your destination as quickly and safely as possible.
